Launch of Brown Hills Western Dressage 15th September 2013
Gale force winds forecast on the day of Brown Hills Western Dressage Group’s inaugural competition (outdoors in the shadow of the Pennines) failed to put off six competitors, 11 spectators, one scribe and of course our judge Joanne Kennedy.
Cake and coffee in a dry barn also helped create a bit of a party atmosphere to mark the occasion.
All six competitors had signed up to take two tests - WDAA Introductory Level, Test 3 and WDAA Basic Level, Test 1. The idea was that everyone completed the first test, had a coffee and cake break and then did the next test.
At the start it was extremely windy with slight drizzle and the judge gave permission to ride in waterproof jackets for which everyone was grateful. It stayed fairly fine during this time, but during the break torrential rain plus thunder set in. Although everyone was up for battling through, it was decided that it really wasn’t safe to continue. So scores were totted up and fun prizes given out.
All competitors said how much they enjoyed it and the question on everyone’s lips was ‘When can we do our next test?’
Thanks go especially to Joanne, Dawn for scribing and Rachel for hosting the event.
The results for WDAA Introductory Level, Test 3 were as follows:
1st Steve Doherty on Colonel Peaches 85.00%
2nd Karen Doherty on Smokey Doc Com 81.25%
3rd Rachel Balen on Arthur 72.92%
4th Julie Hook on Swayfield Cilla Brown 66.25%
5th Sarah Vasis on Walter Raleigh 63.75%
6th Georgia Smith on Spring 62.29%
